Thirty-seven teams and a picture perfect day…25th Oak Tree Logo

The 25th Annual Oak Tree Classic held on Saturday, Sept. 10 was another successful event thanks to our sponsors, donors, golfers and volunteers!  Taking first place this year with a score of 53.5 was Dr. Todd Trudel, John Wermers and Dr. Jacob Bollman.  Roger Sandberg, Mike Sandberg and Mike Swenson landed second place with a score of 55.3 and third place went to Chuck Natalie, Chuck Weiler and Dr. Bob Ross with their score of 56.7.

Best All Woman Team was Mary Weber, Ranet Schmeichel and Liz Sorenson.

Evie Johnson won the top raffle prize of $2,000 and Wade VanDover and Erik Fladhammer each won $250. In a separate raffle, Phyllis Barr won a set of womens clubs with a standing bag, donated by Dr. Robert Ross.

Foundation events would not be so successful without sponsorships.  We truly appreciate our local business community as well as vendors of OAHS for working with us to fulfill our mission to raise funds to maintain and expand top quality local healthcare.

Shopping for a Good Cause

Posted on Updated on

amazonsmileIf you are an on-line shopper and you also like supporting local causes, you can now combine the two with Amazon Smile.  The Foundation strongly believes in shopping locally as much as possible (after all, our local businesses are some of our biggest supporters, so we choose to support them) but sometimes, on-line shopping is the only option.  In that case, you can at least feel better knowing that you can make a charitable donation that will benefit local health care.  It’s also an easy way for those who live out of town or out of state to give back to their home town!

A little info about the program:

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.

How does AmazonSmile work?

When first visiting AmazonSmile, customers are prompted to select a charitable organization–in this case, the Big Stone Health Care Foundation–from almost one million eligible organizations. In order to browse or shop at AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organization.   Click here for a direct link to the Foundation’s charity page. For eligible purchases at AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to the Big Stone Health Care Foundation.

2016 High School Scholarship Recipients

Posted on Updated on

The Foundation is very pleased to present two $1,000 scholarships to a graduate from OHS and CGB who will be pursuing a career in health care.  This year’s recipients are Rachel Fenhaus and Kendedi Stotesbery.

I plan on going to Lake Area Technical Institute this fall for generals and then next year start in the nursing program. After getting my RN or LPN I plan on working around home for awhile. Then, possibly continuing on with school. During high school I participated in basketball, softball, gymnastics and football cheerleading. I was also involved with student council and robotics. Outside of school I danced for the Just for Kix team in Kick, Jazz, and Hip Hop.

I was born in Wilmar, MN. I was raised by just my mom and attended preschool in Clinton. I then moved to kerkhoven, MN where I attended kindergarten. After being so far away from our home town we moved back to Graceville where I attended 1st-12th grade at CGB. My grandma is a nurse and my grandpa works at the golf course. My mom does hair in Graceville. My mom has always been a single mom and has raised me to be the person I am today! My future goal is to become a dental assistant and maybe go back for hygiene. I am excited to see where that career choice takes me! I hope to stay in the area and raise my family here!
