#GivingTuesday is a movement, built by people around the world, to celebrate giving of all kinds. It is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), Black Friday and Cyber Monday; this year it falls on November 29, 2016. This movement is the result of the collective power of a unique blend of partners—nonprofits large and small; businesses and corporations; schools and universities; civic campaigns in cities, states and regions; and families and individuals—to inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and contribute in countless ways to the causes they believe in. The Big Stone Health Care Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to maintain and expand top quality, local health care services for the people of the Ortonville, MN area. Through Physician Recruitment, building projects, equipment purchases and educational funding for EMTs, future nurses and physicians and other health care professionals, we have helped create health care options right here.
#GivingTuesday isn’t just about making a financial contribution, but it also encourages volunteerism. The Foundation relies heavily on volunteers and volunteer committees for our three fundraising events: the Annual Gala Affair, The Oak Tree Classic golf tournament and its High Fashion for the Foundation fashion showcase. We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to bring their creativity, talent, manpower, office skills–or any other skills–to bring these events to life an make them successful.
As a non-profit organization in a smaller community, we are so grateful to have donors and volunteers who believe in our mission and who are willing to make an investment in a healthy future!

If you are an on-line shopper and you also like supporting local causes, you can now combine the two with Amazon Smile. The Foundation strongly believes in shopping locally as much as possible (after all, our local businesses are some of our biggest supporters, so we choose to support them) but sometimes, on-line shopping is the only option. In that case, you can at least feel better knowing that you can make a charitable donation that will benefit local health care. It’s also an easy way for those who live out of town or out of state to give back to their home town!
A little info about the program:
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.
How does AmazonSmile work?
When first visiting AmazonSmile, customers are prompted to select a charitable organization–in this case, the Big Stone Health Care Foundation–from almost one million eligible organizations. In order to browse or shop at AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organization. Click here for a direct link to the Foundation’s charity page. For eligible purchases at AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to the Big Stone Health Care Foundation.
The Foundation is very pleased to present two $1,000 scholarships to a graduate from OHS and CGB who will be pursuing a career in health care. This year’s recipients are Rachel Fenhaus and Kendedi Stotesbery.
